The 4th of July

Today was another packed day with exceptional weather!!! We started the day with the parade, does Wheaton ever know how to throw a parade, TWO hours long. As we drove to the band concert the night before at 5:30, Main Street was lined with lawn chairs saving spots for the big event. So on the way home from the concert, we scouted out a great shady spot and hung our caution tape for others to keep out. Just kidding!! We sat in front of my parent's church which uses the parade as an outreach in an awesome way. There were three huge blow up things for the kids to play on and free food and drinks. It was wonderful. I ran into Andy and Kendra Howard and Tim and Kimmy Howard. They were Taylor Grads a few years ago (Tim and Andy played soccer for Gary) and now they have kids of their own. It was so fun to reconnect with them.
The afternoon was filled with ladder ball competitions, bike decorating, bike riding, our own fireworks show, sparklers and food. We headed to Carol Stream for the big boom fireworks and had a long wait unti the sun set, but it was worth every minute!! It was a spectacular show and I realized that Logan had never seen fireworks before. She absolutely loved it!! We have always been in Michigan and because they start so late and we watch them on a boat there I have just stayed home with the little ones. Now there is no keeping her from seeing them she is already asking when we can see the show with the "pops and booms" again. We had a wonderful day of celebration!!! Happy Fourth of July!!
